Claude Desktop
Claude Desktop talks an Anthropic Messages gateway (/v1/messages), not a generic OpenAI Chat Completions client.
APIClaw can serve Anthropic-compatible traffic, but Desktop setup is different from Cursor or Cline.

For the most reliable APIClaw coding setup, use Claude Code with ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL=https://apiclaw.biz.
Configure Claude Desktop (third-party gateway)
- Enable Developer Mode (Help → Troubleshooting → Enable Developer Mode, wording may vary by version).
- Open Developer → Configure Third-Party Inference.
- Fill in the form:

Do not paste https://apiclaw.biz/v1/chat/completions. Desktop expects an Anthropic-style host that can serve /v1/messages.
- In the Models section, add an entry with the Model ID from your model hub, a display name, and a Tier alias (
sonnet,opusorhaiku). No model appears in the app until this entry exists.
Verify
Use Test connection in the gateway credentials section, then send a short Desktop prompt and confirm the request in logs.
Troubleshooting
- OpenAI-only clients that only speak Chat Completions will not work here.
ANTHROPIC_BASE_URLin a shell often does not apply to Desktop agent sessions; prefer the in-app gateway settings.- Prefer HTTPS and an active APIClaw key.
